I picked up a Model 8 that bubba got hold of, and in taking it down, I noticed it does not have a firing pin spring.
It dates to 1909. Did they even use the spring in the early ones? The firing pin looks different than the one in my 81.

The earliest Model 8's did not have a firing pin spring nor a firing pin buffer spring.
