Hi Guys, just joined your forum and was delighted to find it.
I was searching the internet trying to find out anything about my old leather model 8 carrying case because it looked like it came with the gun. I found absolutely nothing until I found this site and your forum. I'll post some pictures but give you some background first: My natural father (I know, another hand me down story) left me this Model 8 when he died in 1957. He was a deputy sheriff the last several years of his life and I assume he got it while doing that job. Thanks to info on this site I was able to date it as a 1912 "F" class. The leather case is in some disrepair and I wasn't sure it was worth referbishing so I was looking around. Now that I see it may be coming up on it's centenial it may not be in as bad a shape as I thought. I see the images posted on this thread but still haven't heard any discussion on whether these guns were sold with cases or if they're after market. Would also like some more info on the difference in "classes". Mine has an F stamped above it's serial number (294xx) and a K with a circle around it below. Am assuming that's an F class but don't know if that's good or bad (and what's the K?). Were there quality differences?
