Weather was great for shooting today so took the oportunity to shoot my Model 8 in 30-30 Rem. Was pleasantly surprised with the recoil compared to my 35 and 300 savage 8/81`s. Ammo was Remington green box with red and it showed itself quickly as old and brittle brass. Shot one three round group and split the necks on each round .Rather than destroy anymore brass I stopped . Will pull the bullets and anneal the brass, reload and try again. King sight was adjusted as far down as it would go and the group of about three inches was a foot high and six inches left. When I get the reloading done will try this again with an original rear sight instead of the King.

Way cool. A shoot day is always a great day.

Indeed the 30Rem does seem to be a lot more pleasant to the arm then the 35 and 300, very similar to the 25, why is that - I was expecting more of a jolt behind a 30cal. bullet?
