My rifles as I promised:
The first rifle is my model 8 in .35 Rem, the first rifle that I ever bought for myself with my own money. It was set up with rings when I bought it but the eye relief was all wrong for me and I had to crane my head back to get any sort of sight picture. I put the long bodied weaver scope base on it which allowed me to move the scope forward so that I can see through it. I put an old weaver K-3W with a post and crosshair on it. Very accurate. I've only carried the rifle into the field once but plan on doing so more in the future.
2 81's in .300 Savage. They were my great grandfather's guns and have seen a lot of use and have put venison (and many other things) on the table for decades and across generations.
I carried the plain stocked one on my first deer hunt and have taken many deer with it, including my largest buck. There is no rifle I love more than that one and I still carry it every year if I'm not carrying my model 8
The other 81 hasn't seen much use in recent years because the stock is broken across the wrist. I'm not sure if the checkering is factory or aftermarket as I've never had another checkered 81 to compare it to. I would love to find a reproduction stock so that I can get this gun up and running again
Ill post better pics of each of the rifles for a better look
