My 1909 Model 8 in .25-35 came in today and the barrel jacket is marked with the last 4 of the serial and a B, xxxxB, and the extractor is marked 30. Is the B usually there? It only has the 1900 and 1902 patent dates; so I don't think it was ever replaced. There are some other peculiarities I need to compare to my other M8.

if you're able I'd love to see a picture of the markings. I've never heard of a "B" marking before.

Here you go, I was already planning on a pic to tempt someone into responding. Part B of the barrel shroud? Barrel B for the gun? It would be kinda cool if someone had multiple barrels for the rifle, but I only have the one if they did.

texassako,

I've never seen another marking like that before, maybe some of the other members can chime in. I'm perplexed.
