New to the model 8, just got one from 1920. Does anyone make a stripper clip that will work for the 35 Remington ? Any model 8 machinist owners who can make them ? Thanks

Original stripper clips can be found on ebay and gunbroker. They're collectible so expect to pay $35-50 each.
We're glad to have you here, welcome!

To piggyback on this topic - can military stripper clips of any type substitute for the .35 Remington factory jobs?
I have a bunch of 8mm Mauser, and 7.62x54R strippers that I could tinker with for this.
Guess the russian clips wouldn't work, since they are for rimmed cartridges. Anyways, what have folks done in this endeavor?
thanks
Adam

Mauser-type clips will work for .35 and .300 Savage. But I feel the use of a clip with an 8/81 is not particularly advantageous. Just how rapidly does one need to reload? But clipped ammunition is neater to carry around in your pocket.

Just got the big Model 8 book and it says the model 8's with one side spring or no magazine side spring are extremely hard to use a stripper clip in as the bite the thumb, badly . Has anyone found this to be true and do you still use them ? My gun has one spring , made in 1913. It is being restocked so have not tried my stripper clip yet . Would like ti use them it anyone has found the best way to load and not get bit badly . Thanks

The clips for the M14 will work.

Thanks , do you find your thumb gets chewed up on the older model 8's when using the stripper clip ?

According to serial# page mine was made in 1925. I haven't had any problem with my thumb being chewed up but I haven't shot it near as much as I shoot my M1. My 30 was made in 1908 but I don't have any strippers for it.

Thanks , have not shot mine yet as it is being restocked. Does the Magazine of the 35 hold all five in the stripper clip at one shot as the pictures would indicate?

Sorry, I did not ask that correctly , will all five from the clip load at once in the magazine with the 35 caliber ? I thought I read the Mag holds 4 and one in the chamber but the stripper clip holds five .

Yes it holds 5 as soon as you close the bolt 1 in chamber 4 in mag.
