Well it pretty much shows that war is Hell, all of them.
Also shows how proud we can be of our country, we need more of that now days.
I`d love to have a statue of the flag raising, salute too all those that served.

Indeed, great post Jerry.
Even the huge cold DC memorial moved a teenager in '67 and then again a geezer in '09. The more I read about what my Dad (Army) and the thousands of other did over there for this country, the more it hurts - what our people/leaders are taking for granted.

Imfuncity, I recall your Father and his Brother entered US Army in 1940, went through Pacific campaigns including driving japs out of Phillipines, your Father survived and came home but his Brother was killed there. Must have been very hard for your Dad.
