Hi. Recently refurbished a model 8 passed down to my son from his maternal great grandfather. Decades ago the barrel shroud cracked right at the juncture of the flange that attaches to the frame, and it was crudely brazed in place. Recently my son noticed that it has seperated again (not completely). Anyone have a similar issue and suggestions for best way to permanently repair it? thx in advance

If this was a time when Remington was still working on the rifles they would have replaced the entire barrel jacket. If you wanted to do that, finding a replacement shouldn't be too difficult.
