Guys, this is my final post before work. I am now determined to get my C&R license and become a Cruffler.
All I'd like is some help with the hyperlinks to the info I need, ATF or whatever website with the info.
Thanks guys!

Thanks Cam. I just finally got tired of paying to have old guns shipped to FFL's and have to wait forever.

Keep in mind that some FFL dealers may not ship directly to a C&R licensee, and you cannot force them to do so. As near as I can tell, it is legal for anyone to ship directly to a C&R licensee, but getting them to do it may be difficult. I also had a run in once with FedEx over that. They swore that it was illegal, and that they could ship only to someone with a "real" FFL and a business address. I had to get someone from much higher up to over-rule the local office.

yep - I have certainly heard those stories over the years. I'm not interested in anything that's going to get me problems, I think I'll be fine. I have buddies who have C&R's - can't I swap with another C&R holder?DWalt wrote:Keep in mind that some FFL dealers may not ship directly to a C&R licensee, and you cannot force them to do so. Couple of things to keep in mind...
a. You cannot ship to a C&R holder in the republic of CA. C&R holders within the state can still sell and swap with other C&R holders but only within CA state lines and some say only F2F can't even ship within state.
b. There is NO law that says you have to reveal to any shipper what is "in the box" unless it is explosive, dangerous, etc. Bottom line, loose lips sink shipments.
From behind enemy lines, that is all... Breckenridge.

Adam, I trust the link provided has you on the way. I will reiterate a few points from a previous post to keep in mind. It is correct that some FFL dealers will not ship a firearm to a C&R holder. While it is frustrating to have to bear the expense and go through a needless additional background check by having an FFL holder receive it, on occasion I have done it. On others I simply passed on the deal and looked elsewhere. I understand that FFL holders are under more intense scrutiny these days from ATF and are forced to dot every" i "and cross every" t" lest they be in violation.
On your application for a C&R license you will be asked if you have a valid hunting license. It will speed things along if you do as it will confirm to ATF that you can legally own a firearm. The requirements for record keeping are pretty straight forward and you need to pay attention and follow them. The "bound book" they refer to in my case is one offered in the NRA store. It is leather bound and has pages to record the particulars of each firearm acquired .It also has bill of sale forms. When I send the signed copy of my license to a seller I include one of the bill of sale forms for them to complete and ship with the arm. This way you have all the information needed for your record keeping and verification of where you acquired the arm.
Be prepared to educate folks not familiar with Curio&Relics and the legalities of shipping to you. If you buy military arms be aware that this is an area of confusion for some. ATF rules state that military arms must be in original unaltered condition. Have seen this rule violated with mauser sporters and such being shipped C&R . Not worth the risk .Remember that ATF has the right of inspection of your records and the arms you acquire using your C&R license.
