I was looking to buy this butt stock from eBay
http://item.mobileweb.ebay.com/viewitem ... 9007864645 but after looking at my 29000 series 81 I noticed the comb to be different. What year stock was on eBay
Thanks

I saw that listing also and at the time it just didn`t look right. I don`t know about a year that it would have been for and suspect someone did a refinish and worked it over with some heavy sanding.

I was the seller in the listing in question, I picked the stock up in a lot of used stocks and didnt need it for my model 8, I can't imagine what other gun it could be for, Remington only made 3 long recoil guns, the model 11, 11-48 and the 8/81's. The stock was stamped "8" and had the older brown buttplate, as for a refinish who knows, I hope the buyer is happy with it, if nothing else I always accept refunds.

I think this stock is for the model 8 with the semi-pistol grip style stock. It came with the cap flat or the round knob. See Henwood's book page 50.

I also believe it was a late model 8 stock, which had the optional flat pistol grip wrist, which was of some popularity at the time. I think you got pretty good money for it.
