Folks who've gone this far with your 8/81, and I know this includes several, which direction does the jacket head remove from the barrel? Lefty loosey, righty tightie, or reverse?

All threads on the 8/81's are right handed. No liberals allowed.

OK, now I need some actual honest-to-goodness help with this thing.
1. If the jacket head is heated with propane/mapp/whatever, shouldn't the retaining pin either drop out or at least become "movable" so I can unscrew this bad boy?
2. Did I do an Epic Fail by not doing something else first? I actually drilled out the pin location, so there shouldn't be anything there solidly connecting the head to the jacket tube - except friction.
By friction, I mean solder, hardened grease, what have you.
SO, maybe some a you'se whose done the carbine conversion/barrel and jacket shortening procedure could helpfully chime in and tell me your secrets of REMOVING THIS DAGGONE THING. I suppose putting it on a bench vise, using a longarm lever to add some turning force, that sort of thing. Right?
I know that you folks in the know are out here ----I got my dad and his old buddies with lathes, drill presses, bench mills, etc. on line for the next level of this process. Cutting new exterior threads on the jacket, on the shortened barrel, etc.
Really makes me wish I could fast forward this thing to see it all done...lol
OK I'm out - school let out a while ago, and I gots to go home!

Check this out.
I'm beginning to think differently about removing the jacket head - since I am going to trim the jacket tube in front of the head anyway, I could just go ahead and make my band saw cut approximately where I want it right now. Then, I could work on removing the remaining "stub" from the head in a variety of ways. Use the band saw to trim real close up to the head, then cut crosswise into the jacket "stub" material just up to where the threads begin - do this on opposite sides (internal cuts) - and perhaps the jacket "stubs" could be persuaded to remove themselves.
Just a thought....
