Above is the gallery I created showing my recently purchased Model 81 (.35 Remington). I was looking for help regarding the scope mount you see in the pictures. As you can see, it's a side mount with no visible markings (and no rings came with it). I am looking to purchase a period-reflective scope and a set of rings and I heard I should ask you guys. Any help at all would be great.

Also, you will see the Redfield peep-sights. I am looking for some inserts for the rear sight with no luck. If anybody can help me with this as well that would be great.

The side mount base on your 81 will require some searching for rings to fit it. It appears to me to be an ECHO base and requires offset echo rings to work. If it is not stamped on exterior with the ECHO brand it may be on the side toward receiver.May be stamped "8 DC which designates it as correct base for an 8 or 81. The search for the rings will take some doing as these were made starting in late 40`s up to the 60`s when Weaver and others kinda took over the market. They do come up from time to time on the online auctions like Fleabay and Gunbroker. I shot a photo of the entry in Stroebel`s "Old Rifle Scopes" page 310, so you will know what you are looking for. Pay attention to the auctions for vintage scopes that include rings and you may find a set that the seller doesn`t have a clue what they are. If I should come across a set will certainly let you know. Good Luck.
