proofmarks

Hello all im a new member from Canada. Really enjoy the site and happy to be a new member. Recently acquired a model 8 .35 rem. The serial number(no letter codes) is 17779 with the 9 a bit higher than the last 7. Numbers match on the gun. Also there is interesting RP proof marks on right side which I believe are British Proofs. I understand that some of these rifles made their way to Britain so finding the gun in Canada would make sense. According to the serial number info rifle would be pretty early 1909. Does this make sense? Also just to mention I collect Rem model 14s and have them in all calibers including 44-40. I really enjoy loading and shooting the old REm
calibers and have dies for all of them. If someone could confirm the date that would be great'
Happy new year to all
