Well.Varian it appears that you have switched gears from the Echo base you inquired about in your first post to the #4 Weaver you want information about now. The Weaver may be a little easier to find rings for but you may be just " swapping the devil for the witch". Long obsolete the Weaver offset ringset for an 8/81 is not going to be found on the shelf or at the parts houses on line without a good bit of searching. Online auction sites GB,Fleabay etc.are possibilities unless someone here has an extra set they will part with. The #4 base uses the same two large screw attachments for the rings as the current available sidemount ring sets for rifles such as the Savage 340 series. Unless I am mistaken those ring sets would not work because they would position the scope directly over the receiver.
I`ll refer you to the above thread and advise you to do a search of other posts here on the subject of scoping 8/81`s . In the referred to thread I submitted a photo of an 81 that I had scoped using another readily available Weaver base and ring set. It was the swing mount set for the Remington 760/742. While this set is not a perfect fit for the contour of the 8/81 receiver it can easily be made to fit. The base is aluminum and using the 8/81 receiver as backing with sandpaper the base can be reconfigured for a good fit. Position the base to allow the scope to clear the ejected cases and then mark it for attachment. Concern about additional holes drilled and tapped is not going to detract from the value of the rifle since you have the holes from the Echo base anyway.

Re: weaver scope rings
Varian,
What Sarge756 is saying is true. The newer Weaver #4 set up (left in pic) ring set can be used with the six hole older #4 set (right in pic) but will put the scope to far over the receiver. Jamming due to the ejected cases hitting the scope and bouncing back into the port was the result. I had to use the old style set up with a period Weaver K 2.5 in order to get it all to work.

Please check out my current auction on GunBroker.

I have done a lot of research to come up with these components and then the issue was to find them at a reasonable price. This can certainly be mounted where the scope does not interfere with the eject shells.
The Weaver base can be located at any place on the left side of the rifle depending on which scope you plan to use. I went with the 1" rings in order to be able to use a vintage or modern scope. It was made years ago for vintage scopes with 3/4" and/or 7/8" scopes. I may be able to come up with those if someone needs them.
Thank you for your time.
