I picked up this model 8 recently and scored on finding the 25 Remington as my first model 8. It has what the owner believed was a factory short stock. The LOP is only 12.5 inches. It's a little short but I manage. I am looking for a standard sized buttstock for it but am planning to caribou hunt with it this season. It was made in 1922 and really likes Hornady 117 grain round nose bullets over 3031. I thought it looked right with the pack basket. Some things seem to go together.
That's an amazing find and purchase for your first Model 8. Be wary, it probably won't be your last one. Henwood says that standard stock was 13 3/4 inches but that deluxe grade rifles would be had with stocks made to measure.
