forend stock takedown screw size is different. Help.

I have a model 8 in 30. I just bought a spare (fully functional) barrel assembly with everything (except the forend stock and takedown screw) for a model 81 in 30 Remington.
Well all is dandy, but my original model 8 takedown swivel screw is narrower than the thread size of the mount came with the model 81.
Any pointers?

Hey Gottmituns,
I don't really have any pointers other than to say that the forearms of 8's and 81's are not interchangeable. You will need to purchase a Model 81 forearm and accompanying screw in order to get wood on that barrel assembly.
Here's some forearms (new reproductions & used) and a forearm screw for an 81...
CBR reproduction 81 forearm (very NICE)

used 81 forearm (extra hole in wood)

(used 81 forearm screw)
