I reload a lot of shells for the model 8 and 81. I load all the calibers. One thing I found out is you should use military grade primers. The 8 and 81 do not have a positive firing pin retractor. Some have firing pin springs but these can weaken. Military grade primers have a thicker cap and a light blow will not set them off. Slamming the bolt can cause a lite dimple and with a regular primer the rifle could fire and like the Garand and the FN out of battery firing can occur if the firing pin is stuck or the spring broken. Military primers can reduce the risk of out of battery firing.
