8 with stock flutes

This is my first post here, but have been silently reading a lot of the old post and have been a RSA member for a long time. I occasionally dabble in Mod 8s when I find a really nice one. My real vice is early Rem. slide action repeaters 12- 14- 14 1/2 and 25s. in carbines and fac. eng. guns. My question is I recently purchased a mod. 8 sn. 24956 about 95% original ex. a little bit of extra finish added on top of original stock finish. It is a round knob stock with cheeks and with the flutes where the comb starts. Obviously the wood hasn't been worked on. How scarce is this stock configuration. About the only ones I have seen with the flutes is on the grade guns.

Great question by the way. I'm not sure I can quantify how rare, or uncommon, something like a fluted stock is. You're right in that they are seen frequently on high grade pistol grip 8's. I've also seen them, as you indicated, on some early pistol grip standard "A" grade 8's. All that's to say, I've seen them but wouldn't classify them as "rare" nor something that adds any significant value to the rifle. If you have a 1911 mfg rifle that truly is in 95+% condition that's where the value will be, regardless of stock configuration. If you're able to post pictures we'd all love to see the gun.
