Barrel jacket screw

does anybody know why some model 8 don't have barrel jacket screws. I see some with and without. Any reason

The barrel jacket screw hole, which is intended for a sling swivel eyelet, wasn't included into production until the 1920's. It was just a matter of demand I suppose.

Thanks for the reply Cam. I just got my great model 8 book in the mail last night and read that in their. What a great book to learn about these rifles.
