My model 81 came with a thick recoil pad and I would like to know if the stock was cut down when the pad was added. The length of pull is 13-9/16" without a butt plate. I don't know how much length the butt plate would add but I think
I have read that the correct LOP is 13-3/4". The end of the stock measures 5-1/16" x 1-5/8" and appears to have some finish on it. Should there be any factory marking on the end of the stock? I don't see anything but a previous owner's name.

It certainly doesn't look like it. You can find original buttplates frequently on ebay and gunbroker.
