I picked up another model 8 at a local Auction last Week -- Ser # 64900 - 30 Rem -It is in very nice condition except for the Buttstock -- It has been shortened and the Butt Plate filed to fit -- BAD JOB !! -- If someone out there has a Pore Condition Model 8 with Nice wood with a Butt Plate I would like to trade my wood and some cash -- to make this nice Old 8 Whole Again !!! --- Thank You -- F.A.B.

Remington stocks are really not interchangeable, the usually do not fit just right. I would get a new stock from Macon Gunstocks or fit a Browning auto five stock. If you are going to use the time to fit a stock I get a higher grade wood. For the same amount of work you end up with a more attractive finished product.
