While shooting my model 8 today the weaver #4 mounting plate and scope stripped out and launched in the air. Somehow I managed to catch it mid air after the recoil and shot. The holes in the receiver are now stripped and so are the 6 screws.
That’s where I am.....so now what? Trip to the gunsmith, redrill, and retap?
Advice needed.

HELP Side Scope Mounting Plate Broke Off
Re: HELP Side Scope Mounting Plate Broke Off
Hi Beau,
Apart from drilling out and retapping the base & receiver to use an oversize screw, the only other option I'd imagine is retapping the receiver altogether with a new set of holes. I'm not a gunsmith, however, so there may be additional options. You may try to message forum member CURDOG who is a gunsmith.

If the screws are 6-48 Brownell's sells an oversized tap and screws.
