NOS Buffer spring

Picked this up on Ebay for 35 dollars, i don't think it has ever been used. Look at the top coil - it isn't touching the second coil. I think this is where the first noticeable compression would start. Do you think it is NOS

Could be NOS, but it shouldn't matter. For what it's worth, my 1947 buffer spring's ends also do not not touch adjacent coils. Let us know how it works.

Ref spring ends: So are both of my mid-late1940 era 81 buffer spring ends not touching adjacent coils.
