I have a Model 81. The code on the barrel is C G, which should mean it was manufactured in April 1938. But, the serial number is 622, which would put it in 1936. Any idea which is correct?

The barrel/jacket may be a replacement for your rifle/receiver, or the receiver was made in 1936, but the rifle was not completed until 1937.

Does the barrel jacket have 622 stamped on it? If so, it is original to the gun.
