Hello!
I’m am new year and just picked up my first model 8 or 81 I’m not sure which! The recover is dated from the late 1920’s but the front assembly seems to be from 1948. Also the stock shape doesn’t seem right. The stock looks professionally finished and done just not shaped right. I look forward to taking it out I managed to track down some .35 rem ammo and the bore looks amazingly clean!

Re: New Model 8 or 81?
Welcome Redwing 623.
You appear to have a Model 8 that has had the forestock replaced with a Model 81 forestock. You could get a Model 8 forestock to replace the Model 81 forestock, or just enjoy it as is. Do you plan to hunt with it, or just shoot/collect it?
Thanks for sharing the photos.

I think the forend abs front was replaced in 1948 based on the stamps ok that section if I’m reading them right. I haven’t decided yet if I want to replace them both the stock looks a bit off to me and has no comb essentially so I will see how it shoots this weekend. Is there a record of stamps that Remington used?
