Remington model 8-D grade

I guess from what Cam says there were quite a few mod 8-Ds made through the years enough so he stopped keeping track of them. Well here is another.

This one is serial # 25924 made in 1911 but there is a twist ! This one is in 300 sav. It has a repair code of "DA3" which is either September of 1932 or 1954 most likely the latter which would explain the 300 sav barrel. It also has engraving on the barrel collar which from what I have read isn't very common.

It has a few finish issues the worst being what looked to be possible blood spots on top left side of the receiver where bluing is gone. Could have also had something to do with the repair code ??? The stocks on this one are a little rough and show handling / hunting marks from use but are still pleasing to look at.

It has a Lyman 41-R sight mounted on the rear of the receiver. This one is mounted in the forward position unlike the C-grade I bought. It  has a D.W. King front bead and a Lyman folding rear sight. I would like to put a nice sight blank in place of the Lyman ! Anyone have one for sale ??

All and all a nice old model 8-D !!!    Enjoy the pictures I will post a bunch !   Thanks for looking.  John Taylor

I did shoot it last Monday along with that C-Grade I bought and changed the bolt carrier on. I also gave the Kreiger conversion a go. They all shot nice with no malfunctions. I shot two clips 10 rounds rapid fire out of each gun. John

Hey John T, it looks like a beautiful rifle. I’m sure if it could talk it would tell some great stories. I hate to be the one to point this out, but it appears that a case of jackitus has taken ahold of you. Please don’t take offense, it’s just an observation from an old man in Iowa.
Thanks for your time
Roger

Hey John, I was definitely struck with my own case of Jackitus. More recently I’ve been concentrating on selling off some of my collection. Now that I’m retired, there’s never as much money for buying great pieces. However as I have sold off some pieces, I’ve tried to reinvest some of the money into more scarce pieces. I was lucky enough to hook up with Corey and Brian Creamer at Tulsa last November. It’s always a pleasure spending time with them. They offered me a chance to own one of their Dad’s Fn1900 rifles, but I just couldn’t swing the deal with the other expensive Winchester rifles that I had bought. I was very thankful for being considered at all. Once again, there’s never enough money now that I’m retired. I’m thankful just to be friends with their family.
Thanks for your time
Roger
