help with model 8

I'm assisting the widow on my dear friend liquidate his meager collection, only one of which I have little or no knowledge of that being a Remington Model 8. I have read through this web site and most everything I can find on the web about them. Now we are at the point of determining the condition and value.
This rifle is a 30 Remington, does not appear to be molested or altered, it shows use but not abuse. When it comes to determining percent of original finish and overall condition I get lost as it seems rather arbitrary when comparing one example to another.
I'm hoping that with the expertise and experience here I can garner some insight as to the value and desirability of this particular rifle.
