The Last Model 8???

This is a thread I posted in 2019 and I wanted to reintroduce it because I think it's fascinating!...

Many have wondered "what was the very last Model 8 produced"? Although we may never know, this gun is a strong possibility.

This rifle was a presentation gun given to retiring Remington salesman, J.W. Speight, from a Remington sales branch. Serial 65xxx is a "C" grade, factory chambered in 300 Savage (not offered in the Model 8). The receiver inscription suggests it was manufactured and presented in 1939 (during Model 81 production).

Although there are Model 8's with higher serial numbers, this unique gun was likely built from a leftover receiver & parts. Very cool!

Hey Cameron, This is a very interesting story. I’m glad you brought it up again. It seems that we haven’t had any posts lately,so it’s nice to be thinking of model 8s again. I’ve had some late production M8s but certainly none that would be made after the M81 was released. I have to wonder why they chose to gift him a M8 instead of a model 81. Perhaps it was his favorite model. Any way, thanks for starting anew conversation.
Thanks for your time
Roger

81Police, that's a sweet rifle. Personally, I prefer the 8 over the 81. I can relate to the gentleman that received that rifle.
