Hey all, seems I found the correct subforum this time.

So in the long run I will probably be cutting new stocks for my 1949 300 Sav Model 81, partly so I can add sling swivels guilt-free. When I was shopping around, I noticed most Model 8s didn't have provisions at all for a sling, but the FN 1900 I checked out had a factory-looking barrel mounted stud.

My '81 seems to have a threaded hole in the barrel jacket with a little plug - does this take a common size stud, or am I going to be making my own with all-thread and some bubba-ery? I did ask the Google machine and try searching the forums but couldn't find a definitive answer - old posts stating that they can be bought on gunbroker weren't especially useful and I haven't had the same luck finding them. I'm also in Canada and getting anyone to ship gun parts of any kind up here is a special kind of challenge.

The Model 8 didn't get the sling plug until mid twenties*. The Model 81 had the provision for all it's years of production.

I never measured the threads or tried finding cheaper equivalents than old barrel mounted sling stud meant for the 8/81.

Pictured below- a gentleman on gunbroker has 2 different pairs available right now.

The seller is a forum member here that hasn't posted in awhile.

Any chance you could PM me Bob's contact info? I tried to message directly on Gunbroker but they apparently don't allow you to do that if your account isn't USA-based. And he hasn't been on here since 2023 so I suspect a PM won't get me very far.
