I think I found Harry Phanders Remington

Post by 9.3shooter »

I picked up my new to me Remington 141 in .35 Remington today after a 2 week waiting period, yes we have that in Washington for all firearms now.
Its seems to be in really good shape in and out, the two halves came apart nearly by gravity alone, clean inside. Numbered steel buttplate that when I took it off I discovered the name of a previous owner. one Harry Phander, apparently of Perkasie, PA written on the wood in heavy felt pen.
PA was obvious but the town not quite, but I looked up all PA towns starting with P, then googled the name with the town and found an obit for Harry Phander in Perkasie! Born 1900, died in 1985.
Of course I have no idea who the man was but perhaps someone here might, I know these rifles were and are popular in that part of the country.
Anyway appears to be a solid rifle with a good shootable bore, some surface freckling here and there, most cleaned up fairly well with a bit of oil and steel wool. Wood has heavy varnish on it, but the grain is unusually nice for such a rifle.

Nice find 9.3SHOOTER! Good looking buttStock, appears to be a well cared for rifle. What's the barrel date code?

Had to look up that town, as ive never heard of it. It's 3 hours east of me.
