Here is a neat old model 14 D-Grade serial #14130 from 1913 so almost 113 years old. It's been around though !! Not much blue left mostly brown and many nicks and scratches in wood and metal but really cool old gun in my mind !!! Notice the pistol grip cap looks like buffalo horn or some type of horn ??? Thought it might not be correct until you see my next post. Certainly an early custom shop Remington.
I will post a bunch of pictures so hope you enjoy and please lets hear some comments good or bad !! Thanks John Taylor

I really like that D grade John. The autoloading rifle and pump sure have good area's to work with making the engraving look nice and not cramped.
It reminds me of my D grade 8, they share looks in the wear from use. They weren't just safe queens but taken afield.
I know collector wise, most 14 enthusiasts like the wheel sight*, my opinion the sight picture is terrible/poor due to such a small notch. The sight on your rifle is the preferred one for Actual use!
