Hello all,
I'm Dave from Southern Ontario, Canada. I was gifted a co-worker in my previous career's father's rifle about ten years ago now. It had hung on a wall as a decoration for a long time and thus not oiled in the family farmhouse. The wood and barrel sleeve were rough, the bottom of the stock was previously broken and repaired with two nails and wood glue, which did not hold. I have only gotten around to doing something about it recently. However, about 7 years ago i thought i was motivated and disassembled the rifle. Unfortunately in the process the forearm screw went AWOL (Now I regret not looking harder for it at the time before it was probably consumed by the vacuum).
It is a .35 Remington gun with no fancy receiver/wood work and the stock is not the pistol grip style. I will try and add some photos though it is currently in pieces. I did purchase Brownells stock repair screws and though i did not use their acraglas adhesive i did use JB Weld Wood Weld as a substitute and the repair came out decent. The barrel sleeve has a fair bit of pitting but not deep just ugly, however at least the actual barrel bore is bright and shiny and clean. My biggest issue is going to be coming across the forearm screw. If anyone could post a model 8 screw picture it'd be hugely appreciated. Anyway thanks for adding me to this forum! Merry Christmas!
