Hi guys
here is my new firearm find in France for a not too expensive price
The number is 4589 and is fairly in good condition except for the forend who was broken in half and badly glued with a swivel in place of the screw. This one was set badly and when I fired the gun, it splits the wood one more time. lot of work... I still have to make a new screw. Now it is nearly tough but not very beautiful. Here it is

I disassembly all the gun and everything is in good condition.
I just have a question
In my Rem mod 8 in 32 Rem , I have a buffer spring, very tough as you know...
Here in my Browning 1900, no buffer spring; just a steel wad. The barrel recoil spring is bigger and seem to be more strong. I do not know if it is original or no...?

When I shoot with it everything seem allright and "smooth" ( like a 35 Rem...

)
I would like to find a exploded view or a manual about this particular FN gun, but find nothing but about Remington firearms
Thanks for your help and have a good day

Welcome to the forum. Happy you found it.
Real pretty stock set on your rifle!
I don't have an exploded view to show, here's 2 examples of the disassembled barrel assemblies. Top picture is my own, serial #441. The second picture is from another forum member, serial #2983.
It appears yours is missing the buffer spring. The heavy coil at the rear is the buffer spring, that's how they should be setup.

Hello guys
Thanks for help.
I was thinking of a miss of this buffer spring... Now, I know...
As I have a Rem Mod 8 .32 cal. with his Buffer Spring, I think I can try it on my Browning and see how it goes...
I will tell you
It seems to me that this rifle was shooting without this buffer Spring since long time... Do not know... But I tried a few rounds in this configuration and everything seems doing right
But I will not try no more without buffer spring. Just with my Rem Mod 8 buffer and look how it goes... I will put the washer (smooth on both faces), the buffer spring (rem mod 8 cal.32 Rem), recoil spring case & recoil spring and go to shoot...
One more time, thanks for your help

PMangenot,
Your rifle brings the worldwide total (for our database) to 163 FN1900's. Congratulations on a very rare rifle whose numbers are dwindling. Many are in gun-unfriendly countries.
Yours is 7th FN in our database located in France.
The closest known number to yours is 4577 located in Canada

Hi from France
Here some pictures on my FN Browning 1900
The little spots clear you can see on the fore end are the holes I made to secure my two halfs with brass rods glued inside with epoxy all trough the wood. the holes are blocked with epoxy mixed with "Pro-Bed". It works but If I could make a new checkering, it would be better look... Anyway, that's it... and I have the original wood
Can't put more of 3pictures, so I'll make most posts...
