Hi all,

Just curious what the group thinks a POE model 81 in 35 REM without mag is worth? I’m considering selling mine as I’m not a collector but really just want a functioning rifle. I figure it would go quick to the POE collectors. I’m open to offers.

Hello, do you know what model of mag and the capacity it should be? Thanks, PAX

Pax,
I believe my Model 81 would take the 15 round Peace Officers Equipment magazine based off my research. Here are some pics. The gun is in fantastic shape!

The gentleman selling should include more pictures to compare.

It appears that this rifle was* equipped with a Peace Officer Equipment Co. detachable magazine. I can't guarantee that claim due to limited photos.
-my opinion-

Hope some other group experts chime in.

I've seen approximately 6 of the Stamped Police* rifles for sale over the last seven years.
In that time, I have only seen 2 magazines "by themselves" sell on separate occasions. One should expect to pay over $1,000.00 for a single magazine alone. EXTREMELY rare to see them become available.!.!.

I bet those baby's (mag) were bank! Thinking a little out of the box, as much I hate to say it, being a milsurp, C&R junkie kinda guy, could you 3D print something plausible/durable within your state's capacity limit? Example, I'm in Kali, fixed 10 centerfire semiauto gets you under the radar. Although maybe you could get a waiver on the detachable aspect. What ever worked for the Mini14 to be compliant??? Plus, it's for yourself. The current batch of regs here (everywhere) as usual, are stupid confusing. PAX

Sam, is your obviously POE modded rifle stamped POE or any Agency as City property or paperwork? PAX

I don’t believe it has any stamps from POE. I was told it had been sitting in a gun locker at a small Sheriff’s department in Iowa. The department brought the gun in on trade to the local gun shop for a new AR15. Being that it is in such great shape it appears to be a department gun that got shot very little.

Short fat bald guy Mechanical Engineer here. I think you would need a high end 3D printed metal for this. You would need a sample magazine and it would take several iterations. The spring would be a whole ‘nother science project. There might be some other mag spring in the world to substitute, but it would require more shopping and iteration. In the end, you might have a salable product to recoup your losses, but I would be concerned that these are known for hand fitting.
