i think i have seen the answer on this site before but i can not find it. i seem to remember the 81 jacket will fit the receiver but the forearm swivel screw will not fit. is this the case

You are correct, the forearm screw bases in 8's and 81's utilize different size and thread screws, other than that they are basically interchangeable
